For me, big bold colors reflect the joys of a tropical island.  Taking life too seriously is for city dwellers, on the tropical island in my mind’s eye, I don’t see brown palm trees, I prefer purple; my turtle’s shell isn’t grey, it’s orange; and my sun is one big happy fella.  In this painting I purposely omitted details, shadows, and folds, I wanted to keep it as uncomplicated as island life.  It’s all about celebrating color and simplicity.
