“This was a book that had a lot of action, adventure, memorable characters, and a remarkable storyline. I particularly enjoyed the vivid and lively settings, the beautifully-described Venice, colorful objects and geography, and characters whose descriptions and personalities remain long after their roles were done.

In this book, there is a rich variety of characters, from good to nefarious, shady to squeaky-clean, from mundane to quirky, and much in between. They bring the story to life in a way that only the author can, with veracity and purpose.

The story is fun, suspenseful, and a definite escape from the world of today.

In addition, the scenes in Venice are described and shown so beautifully that I could see its beauty throughout the book. Although I have seen photos of Venice, particularly in college when I studied art, the descriptions here solidify its beauty, people, and history in my imagination.

One specific scene makes me really smile. There was a mention of Evening in Paris. That brought back memories when I was growing up, and I would see those little dark blue glass bottles of this perfume at Woolworth’s and Grant’s dime stores. That was a fun remembrance!

Pamela Allegretto is a talented writer, lyrical and intelligent, and that combination makes for great stories that make me want more of them!
