I wasn’t that excited when I began this plein air painting: a bridge, a lake, some trees, that was about it. So I got to thinking, why weren’t there any boys out on that bridge, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, fishing and skipping rocks? I guess they were all closed up inside playing computer games. Well, this painting needed something more, so if the real boys refused to come outside and play, then I’d just have to use my imagination and make up my own boys.
